On 28 December, under the presidency of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; a defense of doctoral thesis was held in the Vatche and Tamar Maookian Library of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
For the ecclesiastical degree of Archimandrite (Vardapet), Rev. Fr. Zaven Yazichyan, member of the Brotherhood of Mother See, Armenian Spiritual Pastor of Myanmar, Singapore and Dhaka, and representative of His Holiness in the Far East; presented his thesis entitled: “The Importance of Psychology in the Service of the Spiritual Pastor”.
His Grace Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan, Primate of the Diocese of Tavoush presided over the Doctoral Thesis Defense Committee. The members of the Defense Committee were His Grace Bishop Michael Ajapahyan, Primate of the Diocese of Shirak; His Grace Bishop Anoushavan Jamkochyan, Spiritual Dean of the St. Gregory the Illuminator Mother Cathedral; His Grace Bishop Mkrtich Proshyan, Primate of the Diocese of Aragatsotn; and His Grace Bishop Gevork Saroyan, Dean of the Spiritual and Educational Institutions of the Mother See.
The Defense began with the Lord’s Prayer, and Bishop Bgrat welcomed the attendees. Fr. Zaven then presented his doctoral thesis, following which Psychology Science Prof. Dr. Kamo Vardanyan, presented a report.
At the conclusion of the presentation of the thesis, the review commission accepted the defenses and approved to grant Rev. Fr. Zaven Yazichyan the rank of Archimandrite.
Present at the Defense of Doctoral Thesis were members of the Brotherhood of the Mother See, students of the Gevorkian Theological Seminary and other guests.
On the same day,with the blessing of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; Rev. Fr. Zaven Yazichyan received the rank of Archimandrite (Vardapet). The service was held in the St. Mesrop Mashtots Church of Oshakan.
